László Heczendorfer (1933 – 2018)

László Heczendorfer – an interior and furniture designer and writer – graduated from Magyar Iparművészeti Főiskola (Hungarian College of Applied Arts), later Magyar Iparművészeti Egyetem (Hungarian University of Applied Arts) in 1957 as a student of Gyula Kaesz, László Juhász and László Hornicsek.
Between 1957-68 he worked at Faipari Gyártástervező es Szerkesztő lroda (Wood Production Planning and Editing Office) the biggest design company in this time. In 1968-69 he worked for LAKÓTERV. In 1969-82 he worked at the Bútorértékesítő Vállalat (Furniture Sales Company) and from 1982 to 1993 at DOMUS as head of development department.
In 1959 he made a major study trip to Denmark.

His large-scale furniture collections, designed with a modern character, aimed at function and manufacturability, were very popular due to their simplicity and quality, and sold 40-50 thousand copies.
Among others, he participated in the elaboration of various residential, bedroom and study programs of BUBIV, Cardo in Győr, Kanizsa Furniture Factory and Garzon Furniture Factory in Székesfehérvár, and designed several furniture sets for Szátmar Furniture Plant in Mátészalka. In addition to furniture design, he occasionally undertook indoor and object design tasks.

He used to be a member of MKISZ, from 1957 known as a Művészeti Alap (the Art Fund) and the Scientific Association of the Woodworking Industry (both Hungary).
